Today's picture: Ceiling Fan

I've talked a lot about being hot, but I think anyone would whine if their AC went out for 2 days and it's 90+ degrees outside.

When we got back from the lake on Sunday, it was noticeably hot upstairs, so we cut the AC back down to 77 and were quickly out the door again to a family barbecue. When we got back it was still over 80 degrees and muggy upstairs. Ted tried cutting off the circuit breaker and we thought it worked. The "AC" was running all night but it didn't seem to be getting any cooler. By morning it was 77 degrees so we thought it was working.

The next night however it was hot and muggy again, and the fan was running constantly. I went outside and the outside unit was not running at all. We figured out the inside unit was just blowing the hot air all around so Monday morning it was 77 only because it had finally cooled off outside!

We called a repair company on Tuesday morning, they were able to come out within the hour. He cleared the blocked piped, emptied the full water tray, and refilled the Freon. We have a slow leak and he said we will need a new unit sometime since the leak cannot be repaired. (We already knew about the leak because the last two summers we've needed a new capacitor and other repair people have suggested we have a leak.) We decided to just do the repairs for now, and we'll get a new unit around October when it won't be so hot to be without and for the people that need to be in our attic installing it!

Fortunately, Ted was able to finish installing Hudson's ceiling fan on Monday night, so at least we all had hot air moving around.
Putting a fan in his room has been on the to do list for years! Hudson was so excited to help Daddy! Even though I may have let a few curse words slip with two nights with no AC, at least Ted set up a small fan right in my face and I was able to sleep fairly decently!

Being as one or the other heat pump has needed attention about every 8 months or so, I never take it for granted! Next mission; clean up for the 40+ people coming over for a friend's baby shower barbecue this weekend.
