True Believer (Jeremy Marsh & Lexie Darnell, #1)True Believer by Nicholas Sparks
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

We listened to this on a recent car trip and surprisingly my husband was more into than I was because there was a paranormal element and he really wanted to hear what was behind it. The ghost story set in a small town was the most interesting part. As per the usual, characters fall in love immediately and character development was a bit weak in this one. The book did raise interesting insights on why a town would play up ghostly presence. The book helped pass the time, I will give it that!

This is Michael Pollan I can read; simplified for a youth audience. Just deep enough to be informative and thought-provoking, but light enough to read at night and not feel weighted down! I've been diving in to information about our food industry and even though this book is a few years old, I found it to be very enlightening. I highly recommend!

Steady paced, multiple narrators, my favorite part of this book was that it personified the captor, and brings to light things are not always as they seem.

I found out about this book after two friends from different circles LOVED it, so I figured I needed to check it out. Both warned about heavy religious overtones, but I did not find them to heavy at all. The author delves in to her love of cooking real food for her friends and family. She shares antidotes from gatherings and recipes throughout. This book hit me just at the right time; I'm all about cooking real food, and was just thinking I need to start having people over again. I loved how she talks about "start where you are" with having people over. If it's not something you're doing yet, have people over and order pizza, then next time, maybe make an appetizer to go with the pizza. I love how she encourages us to not get hung up on perfection, just host from the heart. I'll be following this author now and look forward to more inspiration.

I finished this book months ago, so I can't speak to the details but I really enjoyed the time piece. I liked Paris Wife but it was fun to read a different book by a contemporary of the time.
