Kitchen updates

Life's been moving non-stop, but for all good reasons! Ted and I both have the time and motivation right now to do some upgrades on the house, and we are finally ready to unveil some pictures

BLUE!!!! This is Southern Blue by Behr paint at Home Depot. We tried two shades before this, so we really did more than 2 coats on a few of the walls. We LOVE, LOVE how this turned out! The blue was a little much at first, but after about a week we adjusted and LOVE how it makes the pictures pop!
I'm so proud of these baskets!! This bench was always covered with stuff, and under the bench was overfilled with shoes. I cleaned out the shoe closet and added more storage in there, now we all put our shoes in there. I picked out these baskets at At Home. Each one of us has a basket, and everything will go in the baskets NOT on the counters, and there's no spare space on the bench for stuff to accumulate! I'm going to work tirelessly to establish this new habit because if you've talked to me anytime in the last year, you'll know that clutter is driving me BATTY! I wanted the baskets to be just the right size to fill the bench and be large enough to hold a few days worth of stuff, but not TOO much!
This wall used to have Hudson's behavior chart, a white board, and pockets for mail. This was handy, but very messy. We moved the mail pockets and calendar to the hallway between the laundry room and kitchen, and the behavior chart to Hudson's room (We were terrible about keeping up with it anyway, and the hundred magnets were always on the floor and bench). Ted and I went out one night to pick out the painting and picked this one from At Home.

We added rope LED lights above the cabinets ($30 for a 18 FT rope) and a plug-in timer ($4). Love this!!  I set the timer to be on for a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening. I love having the light on and that it's highlighting the blue!

In addition to the above, Ted switched out all of the light switches and electrical plugs that were cream colored for white ones. Ted painted the trim too, and we are switching out the brass door knobs for Brushed Nickel. All together we have spent under $300. For us, this is a lot of money to spend on something that is "not needed" but it was totally worth it, this is the space we spend the most time in. After we fully finish this room, we're moving on to the sunroom! Our home was freshly painted before we bought it, but the colors are all pretty neutral and flat, we're going to keep painting until we Spring beckons us outside.

I didn't take many official 'before' pictures, and I'm out of time to look for many more, but here are a few pictures where you can see the old blah, putty color...

Notice the clutter on the bench and wall.
