BBB Weekend: June 1-2

It was a Big Boy Bed weekend!! Since I'm days away from entering the third trimester, and our summer calendar is filling up, I've been thinking more about what needs to get done. Of course, "needs" is a subjective phrase, so more accurately, "Things that would be a lot easier to get done now, rather than when I'm any bigger, feeling any hotter, or when baby has arrived!"
At the top of the list was getting Hudson a Big Boy Bed so that we can use the Crib for baby. Hudson's been in the crib since he was born, although we took the front rail off and made it a toddler bed at 2 years old. At this point, the mattress is showing it's wear, and Hudson is almost too long for it! The change needed to come, baby or not!
We've been looking casually over the past few months, but still didn't have a good idea of what we wanted. This weekend we committed to making it a priority!

First there was T-ball:

Then we went to the Mall where none of the anchor stores had furniture at this location. Macy's, Sears, JC Penny's. OK that was unexpected. Next we heading to Value City which was right near by. Hudson REALLY wanted this bunk bed so baby can sleep with him. He's been talking about this for weeks, poor guy. He's really going to have a hard time when he learns baby will be in OUR room for a few months and he needs to stay in his room! I tried to appease him by taking this picture.

Here's that we bought! A daybed! We weren't even thinking daybed, but we thought this looked nice, we can use the bottom trundle for storage instead of a trundle bed, and assuming the piece of furniture holds up we can use it in a guest room, office, etc. Hudson was not so excited about this, but we promised he would get to pick out his sheets and pillows.

We didn't actually buy it that day, I wanted to look more, just to make sure we were making a good decision. We went to one more store, where everything was significantly more expensive and no more impressive. At this point we were hot and tired. I said I would look online that night and see if there was any where else I wanted to look.

I spent hours looking at other stores and researching mattresses.

Sunday
Ted went over to Value City to buy the bed, it would be available on Tuesday for pick up. Meanwhile Hudson and I went to a birthday party, and on the way home stopped at Walmart to look at bedding. Hudson picked out monster truck sheets, and a sports comforter with matching plaid-like sheets. I'm thrilled that they were out of Cars sets and he wasn't upset about it!

Later, we all headed over to The Original Mattress Factory I love that they make the mattresses right in the store so it's supporting the local economy, and the prices seem really reasonable. We picked out a mattress for Hudson, and said we'd pick it up on Tuesday.

Tuesday
Ted drove the truck to work and picked up the bed and mattress on his way home, everything went smoothly and I managed to not have to move any of it! We were all so excited we disassembled the crib, moved it to our room, and Hudson slept on his mattress on the floor with his Monster Truck Sheets! He seemed to sleep great, and all is well!

One last picture of Hudson in his toddler bed. I tried not to tear up!

He was so excited about his new bed and sheets he could not sit still for the picture.

My mom and Hudson starting the shifting of furniture.

We didn't get to put the bed together because either Ted or I was out Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. In the end my parents assembled it for us on Sunday while we were on our Babymoon! That was super sweet of them, we were going to do it on Monday when we got back while Hudson was at daycare.

Here's the picture we got on Sunday that was the surprise announcement that they assembled the bed for us!
I'll post a final picture soon, the room is occupied at the moment!
