Vacation: Day 1-2

Our family of 3 has ventured up to Martha's Vineyard for the second time in 9 months. We are following my parents tradition of this being our vacation destination since we fortunately have family here so we don't need to pay for a car or hotel! There are cheap flights to be had from Richmond to Boston. Flights from Boston to MV are outrageous so we take a bus and ferry. This will not be nearly as easy with a baby and baby gear in tow so it will probably be a few years till we do this again!

We arrived in the island at 3:15 after a chilly ferry crossing.

No matter how chilly, it's still beautiful!

Here's a Hudson shot of his exhausted parents.

My aunt picked us up from the ferry and we went to the grocery store, the on to home where we were content to stay. Naps were had as was a delicious dinner or roasted chicken, and early to bed.

Day 2
Hudson woke up early (the sun is up by 5) but did well staying in the kitchen and playing quietly. There's 8 people in the small house, and by 8:30 we were ready for an outing. The three of us went to the playground and market for some Claritin and local newspapers. Incidentally coming hundreds of miles north in spring means getting to experience spring allergies all over again! Ted stuffed up in the first few hours, poor guy!
Soon after the clouds moved in and the rest of the day was chilly! Even the forecast that day showed it clear and 60, I guess the coastal winds are hard to predict.
Among the relatives at the house include my aunt, uncle, 2 cousins and grandma. The two cousins I haven't seen in over 10 years, probably closer to 20! It was great to reconnect and they bonded instantly with Hudson!

Exploring the creek with my cousin Dave.

Wheelbarrow rides.

Four generations bonding over videos.

Getting exercise on the back porch.

The day was rounded out by Dave returning to Boston, watching a movie, going to the library and some delicious home cooked meals.

It's nice to be together and relax. This year there's no Internet, TV cable or cell phone reception for me. And shockingly I'm surviving just fine. Writing now from a park bench in the glorious sunshine while the boys run around. I'll check back in later!
