Home and Garden: Ted's Gym

Our latest home project is converting our finished third floor room into a home gym. This has been Ted's dream since we bought the house, so we're so excited that it's coming together! We now have the space and time to dedicate to the project.

Ted got the floor mats at Walmart ($20), the mirror at Home Depot ($60) and the pull up bar at Dick's Sporting Goods ($40). (The pull up bar is the thing on the floor in front of the mirror.) The rest of the materials he's acquired from the wonderful world of Craig's List. The Powerblocks (in the back left corner) and stand were first ($180), and today he got this bench and squat rack ($180). These prices are all half or less what it would cost new. As you can see there are no weights yet on the squat rack or a squat bar, so there's still a few more purchases to go. For now though, Ted's going to use the power blocks and his bench. (Powerblocks are a universal weight system where you choose your weight and put the pin in, this way you don't need a large rack of every weight.)

Bench, squat bar, and on the shelves, speakers for streaming music.

Checking out the new equipment.

Hudson loves to exercise too!
Why am I equally excited about the gym? Hudson and I get to see Ted a lot more!  Hudson's old enough now that he has some toys in the gym and I can be doing something else while they are both upstairs exercising! Maybe I'll use the gym equipment myself some day, but don't hold your breath! For now the treadmill is staying in the sun room, we're going to see how hot it is up there when the weather starts to warm up before moving the treadmill! BTW there's lots I would do the space like paint, inspiring art/posters, a TV, but it's not my space and I have no problem letting go!
